Andrew Cohen received his B.Arch. from Cornell University and his M.Arch. from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. After finishing school he worked in Cambridge and Boston for a number of prominent firms, including Cambridge Seven Associates, and Benjamin Thompson Associates, and Whitney Atwood Norcross, developing expertise in large institutional, R&D and manufacturing facilities, and interior architecture. Prior to achieving licensure in 1980, Andrew worked for two years in cartographic and some of the earliest computer graphics development, in advertising and graphic design. He opened Andrew Cohen Architects in 1982, and after 30 years of award-winning practice, is pleased to be partners in ACTWO Architects.

Andrew Cohen has also pursued a simultaneous interest in architectural education and practice, having taught concurrently with his practice of architecture over thirty years. He first taught at the Boston Architectural Center from 1975-1980, and has been a Professor of Architecture at Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI since 1983. Now coordinating the graduate thesis program, he also teaches courses in housing, theory- based design studios, and a general introduction to architecture for first year students. During the 90s Andrew co-directed the School’s study abroad program based in Vienna, Austria, Prague and Brno, Czech Republic, in cooperation with Czech Technical University in Prague, and the VUT Brno. In 2010 he participated as a distinguished visiting professor in the summer program at the Compostela Institute in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, lecturing on design and working with international students on urban projects.

Andrew has lectured and /or been an invited Juror at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, The Rhode Island School of Design, MIT, Tulane, Carnegie-Mellon U., The University of Virginia, Temple U., Wentworth Institute of Technology, The University of Buenos Aires, Tsinghua University Beijing, and VUT Brno, CZ.

Andrew has been licensed to practice Architecture in Massachusetts, RI, CT, NH and Colorado, and is a NCARB certificate holder, and is a LEED BD+C certified professional.

Andrew Cohen served on the Board of Trustees at the Berklee College of Music from 2003-2006 and continues to serve on the Campus Facilities Planning Committee. He is a member of the AIA, BSA, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, The Society of Architectural Historians, and the US Green Buildings Council. In addition to his obsession with architecture and the built environment, Andrew is an avid skier, plays squash and tennis, and is actively involved in the support of the wider arts community, including jazz and classical music, cinema, traditional and modern dance and the theater.
